What is a record label?

It is a brand or trademark, which is associated with the marketing and publicising of music videos and music recordings.  Record labels are also considered as a publishing company who manage the brands and trademarks; they also construct the overall production, manufacture, distribution and marketing/promotion of the video or recording.  Another thing a record label does is ensuring that the copyright for the video or recording is enforced and that there is no illegal use of their product. As well as this they also scout out new and upcoming talented individuals along with keeping the relationship and contract with their current artists. The name “Record Label” comes from the label in the middle of a vinyl record which generally depicts the manufacturer’s name, as well as other important information.
